Volunteer with a club

You build software for a living and want to make a difference. We pair you with one of our community code clubs, for a semester of about 16 weeks, two hours a week in the room.

  • Our volunteers are professional software developers.
  • Use our curriculum library, or make your own.
  • We'll help make sure the club has what it needs, from computers to snacks.
  • Facilitators help find a location for their club.

Be a Women in Tech speaker

Every club opens with a 30-minute Women in Tech Spotlight. If you're a woman working in technology, tell students what you do and how you got there.

Write code with us

Our open-source libraries run real systems, so a contribution here is a contribution to software people depend on. Volunteers of every level are welcome, and so are students ready for real code.

Questions

Is my donation tax-deductible?

Yes. Tech Workforce NM is a 501(c)(3) public charity, EIN 82-2865761, so gifts are tax-deductible to the extent the law allows.

Do facilitators need teaching experience?

No. Our volunteers are professional software developers, not teachers, and that's the point: students learn from people who do the work. You need two hours a week for a semester, and you can use our curriculum library or bring your own.

Can I contribute to the software without teaching?

Yes. velocity-python and velocity-react take contributions of code, tests and documentation. Write to us and we'll help you find a first task.
